I built the tools I wanted on Vest. One-click orders, your stop and target on the chart, hotkeys, a voice that says what filled, and limits that hold. It’s free.
A small card sits over your chart. Choose your size, set your stop and target, press LONG or SHORT. Vest’s own ticket sends the order with both attached.
351015
Preset sizes
Click one of your sizes. The card shows what your stop and your target come to in dollars.
RISK$ 150
Size from risk
Switch on RISK and type what you’d lose. The size follows your stop: a wider stop, a smaller size, the same dollars.
Stop and target in points, dollars or a price, each with a line that says what it means.
FLAT, 50%, REV, STOP and LIMIT, one click each, on every market.

Or your own keys.
Execute card › TRAIL and AUTO BE
Trailing stop and Auto BE
Switch on TRAIL and your stop follows the price at the distance you set. AUTO BE moves it to breakeven once the price has gone far enough.
Keep your eyes on the chart. A calm voice says what just happened: a fill, a stop, a target, a limit, the news.
Six voices. Every line ships inside the extension, so nothing is sent anywhere.
With several Vest tabs open you hear each line once, from the account you’re trading.

The open and the news
A chip on the card counts down to the New York open and to every US release that moves the market. Under five minutes it turns red and the voice tells you.
CPI, PPI, NFP, FOMC, GDP and PCE, from the BLS, the Fed and the BEA.
The dates ship with the extension. Nothing is looked up online.
Dock › P&L
Your day, ready to post
Turn your day into a card: a summary, a replay of your trades on the chart, or the payout you just got.
Save it as a GIF, your trades replayed candle by candle at 10×, 30× or 60×.
While Vest is open, Better Vest keeps the price of every second, so each candle forms the way it really traded.
Themes for Vest and your chart, from OLED black to light, with candle colors to match.

Install
It isn’t on the Chrome Web Store yet, so you add it to Chrome yourself. Seven short steps, and you only do it once.
1
Download the zip
Click Download. On the latest release, under Assets, click better-vest-9.0.0.zip. Not Source code: that one won’t install.
2
Unzip it into a folder you keep
Double-click the zip in Downloads. Move the folder it makes, better-vest-9.0.0, to Documents or anywhere you won’t delete it. Chrome runs Better Vest from that folder.
3
Open the extensions page
In Chrome’s address bar, type chrome://extensions and press Enter. Or click ⋮, then Extensions, then Manage Extensions.
4
Turn on Developer mode
The switch at the top right. It lets Chrome add an extension from a folder.
5
Load unpacked
Click Load unpacked, top left, and pick the better-vest-9.0.0 folder you unzipped (the folder, not the zip). Better Vest 9.0.0 shows up on the page, switched on.
6
Pin it
Click the puzzle piece next to the address bar, then the pin beside Better Vest.
7
Open Vest
Go to next.vestmarkets.com (reload it if it was open). The dock shows up in Vest’s top bar, and you’re set.
After that, updates are one click. When a new version is out the dock shows Update, and Better Vest checks that every file is signed by me before it writes a single one.
Safety
What Better Vest can touch, and what it can’t.
It will never
Log in for you, or read or keep your password, your login tokens or your wallet keys.
Send your data anywhere. There is no Better Vest server: your settings, your journal and your recorded prices stay in your browser.
Send an order of its own. Orders go through Vest’s own ticket, and a stop, a trail, the copier or the loss limit acts only after you switch it on.
Change anything while it reads. The Calendar and the limits read your own history from Vest with read-only requests.
How you can check
Every release’s file list is signed, and the updater refuses anything I didn’t sign.
Every release zip is scanned on VirusTotal before I publish it. The result is in the release notes.
It asks Chrome for three permissions (storage, alarms and tab groups) and for Vest’s site only. Updates come from GitHub.
Yes. No subscription, no trial, no account. It’s free, though it isn’t open source.
Does it trade by itself?
Only what you set up yourself: a stop order fires when the price reaches it, a trailing stop or Auto BE moves your stop once you switch it on, the copier copies when you turn it on, and the loss limit closes your positions only if you switch that option on. Everything else happens when you press a button or a key.
Does it work on my phone?
Better Vest is for Chrome on a Mac or a Windows PC.
Is it made by Vest?
No. Better Vest is my own work and isn’t affiliated with Vest. Use it under Vest’s terms, and remember you are responsible for every order on your account.
What is code WICK?
When you buy an evaluation or a bespoke account, Better Vest asks once if you’d like to use code WICK. It costs you nothing extra and it’s what pays for updates. It only goes in when you say yes, and you can turn the question off.
How do updates work?
When a new version is out, the dock shows an Update button. One click downloads it from GitHub, checks my signature on every file and updates the folder you installed. You can also check any time in Settings, More.
How do I remove it?
Open chrome://extensions and click Remove under Better Vest. Then delete the folder you unzipped.
